More about Salon Strategies
Salon Strategies is a not-for-profit organisation whose mission is to expose the UK’s ethnic hair and beauty sector to business principles and innovations that will secure their success and sustainability. Training and support is offered to Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) business owners to build their capacity, increase productivity and maximise the employment potential of the sector. Within this corporate strategy Salon Strategies was awarded funding, in 2007, to run the Roots To Grow Project.
The Roots to Grow project supports 16-19 year olds who are NEET, predominately female, from a BAME background and who live within London. The project is engaging with 130 such people offering them an initial Information, Advice & Guidance session and subsequent Individual Learning Plan. Based on the outcome of this plan, individuals are offered either training on an ESOL/Skills for Life programme or training on a level 2 NVQ or equivalent programme. Following their training individuals are supported into further learning or progression to employment.
Salon Strategies is working closely with it strategic partner Twin Training for the recruitment and delivery of the training to these individuals, a partnership that has proven to be very successful.
