Details

Course choices: English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)
ESOL & Numeracy
Literacy
Qualification: City & Guilds: Literacy level 1; ESOL entry level 3 and level 1; Numeracy entry Level 3 and Level 1
Funding: Fully funded
Benefits: Travel expenses paid
Duration: 14 or 22 weeks (depending which course)
Schedule: 15 hours a week
Location: Twin’s training centre in Lewisham or Woolwich

What do trainees learn?

Speaking: Discuss a variety of subjects with confidence
Listening: Express ideas and opinions clearly
Reading: Understand and practise telephone skills
Writing: Learn relevant vocabulary and functional language
Develop pronunciation, grammar, spelling, punctuation skills
Learn writing for different formats – eg letters, emails, reports, articles and reviews
Understand and use mathematical info: Whole numbers
Fractions, decimals and percentages
Calculate and use mathematical info: Common measures
Shapes and space

Who is eligible?

 
Age: 16+
Language: If you feel you need help with your English AND/OR maths
Status: Receiving income-based benefits
UK or EU passport holder (includes recent accession countries such as Bulgaria and Romania)
Residence: Living in the UK
Non EU/UK passport holders with leave to remain in the UK must have been living here for at least three years.  The main reason for residence should not be because you were a full-time student.
