FAQs for Jobseekers
FAQs for Jobseekers
Frequently asked questions for jobseekers.
Money
Will I be better off if I get a job?
All of the jobs we place jobseekers into will result in them earning more money than they would if they continued to be on benefits. We can also advise you if there are any benefits or working tax credits you can claim for to boost the income from your new job.
Confidence
I have not worked for several years, who will want to employ me?
We can give you training to compensate for the fact that you have not worked for a long time. Our training will also give you the confidence to become a valuable member of staff when you get back into work. For jobseekers who have a limited work history, we can also offer work experience placements that give you the opportunity to show potential employers what you can offer them.
I am worried that my reading and writing or numeracy is not good enough to find a job, what can you do to help me?
Twin’s Employment & Training service can help you improve your literacy or numeracy to a level that employers would look for when they are hiring staff.
My English is too poor to find a job
We have numerous courses designed at improving English skills for jobseekers whose first language is not English. The courses cover reading and writing, speaking and listening, vocabulary, punctuation and grammar. Our Employment Advisors will also be able to help you write a CV or fill in application forms for jobs.
Personal problems
Can you help me with the cost of childcare?
We can advise you of the childcare facilities available in your area and help you find financial support while you are taking part in one of our training programmes. Once you have been placed in a job working tax credits can cover up to 80% of your childcare costs. Some employers also allow you to work flexible hours while your children are at school.
Will I be able to talk to someone if I have problems in my new job?
Our Employment Advisors will support you while you adjust to being back in work. They will be available to answer any questions you have about financial or practical problems you have with your new job.
