Be positive
An interview is your chance to show the employer that you are
the best person for the job you have applied for. Whatever the
question you are asked, try to think about how you can answer it in
a way that shows something positive about you, or even better, a
reason you would be good at the job.
Be calm
Try to stay calm during the interview. Despite what people
think, you (the jobseeker) are in control during the interview
process. You have the power to show the interviewer that you are
the best-qualified person for the job and that you want the job
more than the other people who applied for it. If you need to take
a few seconds to think before you answer a question, this is not a
bad thing. Take your time and an interviewer will like the fact
that you are thinking about your answer carefully.
Be on time
If the interview is being held in an area you don't know very
well, it is worth travelling there beforehand so you know how to
get there on the day of the interview. It is very important that
you are not late for an interview because this creates a bad
impression before you have even been asked a question.
Be yourself
It is easier to do well in an interview if you are honest about
the answers you give. Employers expect you to put a positive spin
on your achievements and skills, not to say you can do things you
can't. If you lie about your abilities in the interview and you are
offered the job, it will soon come out that you were not honest and
this will make your relationship with the employer very
difficult.
