All the information you might need to apply for our paid NCS roles in any of our locations.

Working on a Twin NCS programme in Autumn 2021

Thank you for your interest in working on Twin NCS programme. This document has been put together to provide you with as much information as possible about working with us. Before you apply, please read the below information carefully.

Twin offers various non-residential employment opportunities for Autumn (half-term and term-time) and School Support (October to December) Programmes on a zero-hour contract.

Training 

Prior to working on our programme, we require all staff to go through our induction training programme. This consists of both virtual and face to face training as well as some NCS e-learning modules. Staff who do not complete this training will not be allowed to work on programme.

New applicants are required to attend one of each:

  • General NCS Information (Half day - delivered virtually)
  • Safeguarding (Half day – delivered virtually)
  • Role specific Training (Full day – delivered face to face at Greenwich HQ)
  • NCS E- Learning Modules (est completion time 5 hours). This is no longer mandatory but highly recommended.

Staff who worked at Twin NCS this summer, will have to attend 2-hour briefing providing them with information about autumn programmes and changes made.

Returning staff (those who worked at Twin on the NCS programme last year) are required to attend:

  • Safeguarding (Half day – delivered virtually)
  • Role specific Training (Full day – delivered face to face at Greenwich HQ)
  • NCS E- Learning Modules (est completion time 5 hours). This is no longer mandatory but highly recommended.

There are a couple of dates available for each session.

General information for new staff is available on the following dates:

  • Fri 15/10 AM
  • Tue 19/10 AM

Safeguarding for both new and returning staff is available on the following dates:

  • Fri 15/10 PM
  • Tue 19/10 PM

Role-specific full day for both new and returning staff is available on the following dates:

LONDON

  • Sat 16/10, 10.00-17.00
  • Wed 20/10, 10.00-17.00

POOLE

  • TBC

Briefing for staff who worked on NCS summer 2021 programme, will be delivered virtually on the following dates:

  • Mon 04/10, 10.00-12.00
  • Thu 14/10, 15.00-17.00 

The full training is paid at £130 and will be made only if you have worked all of the agreed dates. Staff who will not work on the programme due to low young people numbers or not being fully compliant on time, and those who will cease their employment before the end of the programme, will not be paid for the training

Team Leaders must be willing to take on the responsibility of first-aider by attending face-to-face half a day unpaid training (training costs covered by Twin) unless they already hold a valid first aid certificate.

Wave Leaders must be willing to take on the responsibility of:

  • designated safeguarding officer and complete online training level 3 
  • fire-warden for which the training will be provided at induction,
  • first-aider by attending a 1-day unpaid training (training costs covered by Twin) unless they already hold a valid first aid certificate (Emergency First Aid certificate at least). This will consist of 2 hrs of online training and 4 hrs face-to-face.

First aid face-to-face for both Wave and Team Leaders based in London will take place in Greenwich on the following dates:

  • Mon, 18/10
  • Fri, 22/10

Assessment

Team Leaders and Assistant Team Leaders will be invited to a group assessment conducted virtually.

Wave Leaders will be invited to an individual interview.

 

The application process

  • Staff who worked for Twin on NCS programme in summer 2021, can skip the application process and email us directly if they wish to work for us during autumn period
  • Read the relevant job description for the role to ensure you have the skills, experience and qualification(s) required before applying. 
  • Register your interest on the NCS website:https://wearencs.com/work-with-us/on-programme, specify ‘I want to work for a specific provider’, then type in "Twin" and select your preferred location: Twin Training International Ltd- SW (South West- Dorset) or LN (London). 

  • Having registered your interest on the NCS website, you will need to complete a Twin application links to which can be found at the bottom of this page. Please click on the button indicating the position you wish to apply for.

New Staff

Returning Staff

Those who worked on TWIN NCS programme in 2020 and received positive feedback or have successfully gone through Twin recruitment process but didn’t work on the programme due to compliance completion taking place late or low young people numbers

  • If your application is successful, we will invite you to an online assessment session. You will be required to have a camera on and the session will be recorded to allow us to use a transcript service. The data will be safely stored (in line with GDPR) and deleted 6 months after the interview.
  • If your interview is successful, we will issue you with a conditional offer letter and follow up your references. Successful applicants will be allocated a wave on a first-come-first-serve basis, so the earlier you attend an assessment the more likely we can place you in your preferred borough location. Allocation will commence on the 26th April.
  • If you are applying for the same or lower position, you will not be interviewed or assessed   
  • If you want to apply for a higher level position to the one previously held or applied for, you will have to attend our group assessment.
  • We will issue you with a conditional offer letter and follow up your reference. Successful applicants will be allocated a wave on a first-come-first-serve basis, so the earlier you complete the below form the more likely we can place you in your preferred borough location. Allocation will commence on the 26th April.

 

  • All staff must have a clear enhanced DBS check with the barred list for children two weeks before starting work.  
  • If you are registered with the DBS update service, we will need your original DBS, ID number and written permission to check your status online.  
  • You will be sent a link so we can start to process your application. Twin will cover the cost of your DBS check, but this will be deducted from your salary if you do not complete your contract.  
  • If you do not normally live in the UK, we will need a Report of Good Conduct/Police Report from the country you reside in. 
  • If you have spent three months or more overseas within the last five years or have worked with children or young people overseas beyond five years, an overseas criminal record check will be required. This must be accompanied by an official translation.  
  • We require you to attend a mandatory induction training for which you’ll be paid if have agree, sign up to work with us, and conclude the agreed dates, and complete NCS online modules on introduction to NCS, safeguarding, mental health, incident management, and health and safety before your participation in the induction training. Team Leaders also need to complete one day first aid training whereas Wave Leaders need to complete an online level 3 safeguarding and 3-day first aid training courses, the costs of which will be covered by Twin
  • If we have not seen proof of identity or Right to Work documents on the assessment day, you must bring them to your induction training. Copies will be kept on file.
