Twin NCS Information for Applicants

Autumn and School Support Programmes 2020

Thank you for your interest in working on Twin NCS programme. This document has been put together to provide you with as much information as possible about working with us.

Twin offers various non-residential employment opportunities for Autumn (half-term and term-time) and School Support (September to December) Programmes in 2020 on a zero-hour contract.

Locations and Training 

All staff will be required to attend a mandatory blended two-day training (online modules and staff facing delivery, weekends are possible) following the completion of five NCS online training modules. Training may be delivered virtually dependent on social distancing guidance.

The training in London/ Dorset/ online is paid at £100 only if the staff have agreed, signed up to work with us, are fully compliant to commence employment and have worked the agreed dates. The training dates will be confirmed via email.

Team Leaders must be willing to take on the responsibility of first-aider by attending a 1-day unpaid training (training costs covered by Twin) unless they already hold Emergency First Aid certificate.

Wave Leaders and Assistant Wave Leader must be willing to take on the responsibility of:

  • designated safeguarding staff member and complete online training level 3,
  • fire-warden for which the training will be provided at induction,
  • first-aider by attending a 3-day unpaid training (training costs covered by Twin) unless they already hold First Aid at Work certificate.

The application process

  • Read the relevant job description for the role to ensure you have the skills, experience and qualification(s) required before applying. 
  • Register your interest on the NCS website:https://wearencs.com/work-with-us/on-programme, specify ‘I want to work for a specific provider’, then type in "Twin" and select your preferred location: Twin Training International Ltd- SW (South West- Dorset) or LN (London). 

  • Once you have registered your interest with NCS, you will receive an email from Twin NCS team requesting some more information. You will be required to submit this information together with an updated CV and cover letter explaining why you’d like to work on Twin NCS programme and what makes you suitable for the chosen role back to ncsrecruitment@twinuk.com 
  • If your application is successful, we will invite you to an online interview. You will be required to have a camera on and the interview will be recorded to allow us to use a transcript service. The data will be safely stored (in line with GDPR) and deleted 6 months after the interview If you have previously worked on the NCS programme and have received positive feedback you will also be required to attend a brief interview instead, depending on the role worked.  
  • If your interview is successful, we will issue you with a conditional offer letter and follow up your references. You will also be issued with a contract.  You must return your contract to secure your role.  Please note that your contract is subject to receiving a clear DBS and suitable references. Successful applicants will be allocated a wave on a first-come-first-serve basis, so the earlier you attend an assessment the more likely we can place you in your preferred borough location. Successful applicants will be allocated on a first-come serve basis, so the earlier you attend an interview, the more likely we can place you in your preferred borough location.
  • All staff must have a clear enhanced DBS check with the barred list for children two weeks before starting work.  
  • If you are registered with the DBS update service, we will need your original DBS and ID number and written permission to check your status online.  
  • You will be sent a link so we can start to process your application. Twin will cover the cost of your initial DBS check, but this will be deducted from your salary if you do not complete your contract.  
  • If you intend to work for Twin again in the future, you must either sign up for the update service and renew annually, or apply for a new DBS check at your own expense. 
  • If you do not normally live in the UK, we will need a Report of Good Conduct/Police Report from the country you reside in. 
  • If you have spent three months or more overseas within the last five years or have worked with children or young people overseas beyond five years, an overseas criminal record check will be required. This must be accompanied by an official translation.  
  • We require you to attend a mandatory induction training for which you’ll be paid if have agree, sign up to work with us, and conclude the agreed dates, and complete NCS online modules on introduction to NCS, safeguarding, mental health, incident management, and health and safety before your participation in the induction training. Team Leaders also need to complete one day first aid training whereas (Assistant) Wave Leaders need to complete an online level 3 safeguarding and 3-day first aid training courses, the costs of which will be covered by Twin
  • If we have not seen proof of identity or original certificates, you must bring them to your induction training. Copies will be kept on file.
