Travelodge unveils new apprentices drive

The scheme recently saw 33 young people begin their careers with the firm, giving them the opportunity to continue their education while gaining on-the-job training and the chance to become a manager by the age of 21.

Travelodge hopes to have 1,100 hotels in operation by 2025 and is seeking 500 managers to run them.

Chief executive Guy Parsons said that the company was flooded with applications for its apprenticeship scheme and is hopeful of similar levels of interest next year.

"The calibre of candidates has been outstanding. I am so looking forward to watching our new apprentices develop into future leaders of our business," he stated.

Haulage company Eddie Stobart recently announced the launch of an apprenticeship academy, with the aim being to produce 150 recruits each year.
