Improve your maths skills and employability for free with Twin!
Do you live in Canterbury, Dartford, Dover, Folkestone, Gravesham, or Swale?
Numeracy is a valuable life skill and used every day whatever life or job you have. It is the ability to understand and use maths in daily life, such as improving household finances, helping children with homework, making more sense of the stats and facts in the media, or something specific to your line of work.
People who improve their numeracy skills are more likely to be in employment, have higher wages, and better wellbeing, and will be more able to progress to higher levels of free training to secure a skilled job.
Working with Kent County Council, we are running a series of courses online, and face-to-face, which could help you improve your numeracy skills, including:
Be aged 19 years or older
Live in Canterbury, Dartford, Dover, Folkestone, Gravesham, or Swale
Do not already have a Level 2 numeracy qualification at A*- C (9* - 4) grade

Money Matters – First Steps to Numeracy
It could be planning and budgeting for food, managing household bills, or understanding measurements for recipes or home improvements. Through our first steps numeracy sessions, we aim to demystify how numbers can help you to gain confidence and explore how this can benefit your everyday life. Our skills checks will help identify what numbers mean to you and how we can assist you in enhancing your knowledge and understanding through bite-sized individualised support. There is the option to progress your maths skills after ‘money matters first steps’ with further training opportunities.
Money Matters – Budgeting and Financial Wellbeing
This course will increase your knowledge to help you calculate and discover better options for you and your family. As an introduction to financial wellbeing and budgeting the course explores your ‘money personality’ and how to effectively budget and navigate your understanding of how to get the best out of your money situation. Budgeting exercises around income and expenditure, borrowing and managing debt, cost of living support and universal credit calculations are individualised to increase awareness and provide guidance to money confidence.
Addition to Employment
Is numeracy a challenge in everyday life and preventing you from taking up work opportunities? Embrace the challenge and let us help you to improve your confidence and current skills levels. Through an initial assessment we can help to identify and create a pathway to learning and employment through our employer networks and support you to obtain skills and access the qualifications to improve your chances of employment, an apprenticeship or further training. We will also support you with how to work out the impact that employment will have on your finances and benefit entitlement.
Parents – You and Me 123
Our exciting activities introduce parents and children to short, fun resources to improve and gain confidence in maths at early key stage 1. Engage in activities to learn and understand how maths is taught in school and incorporated into everyday life and develop confidence in helping your children with homework. Parents considering applying to teaching or volunteering roles will also gain valuable insight and skills to enhance CV’s and applications to schools, with the opportunity to progress maths skills with further training opportunities.
Numeracy Community Challenge
This course provides a skills assessment to create individualised support and identify an activity or pathway to further improving your numeracy skills when considering employment or volunteering.
