Information about the Restart Programme

The Restart Programme is a UK government initiative that helps people who’ve been out of work for 6 months or more get back into employment.

This Programme offers personalised support to Universal Credit claimants, giving you the skills, confidence, and opportunities you need to succeed. Twin delivers the Restart Programme in Leicester on behalf of AKG.

 

 

What you’ll get

  • Your own Employment Coach – someone who listens, understands your situation, and helps you plan your next steps.
  • Skills & Training – from CV writing and interview techniques to digital skills, maths, and English support.
  • Practical Help – with job applications, accessing local vacancies, and preparing for interviews.
  • Financial Help – with childcare, travel to work and essential equipment or licences for work.
  • Confidence Building – we’ll help you overcome challenges, stay motivated, and believe in your abilities.
  • Health & Wellbeing Support – Work with an experienced coach who’s here to help you manage your health, understand your needs, and overcome any challenges – including those related to neurodiversity – so you can move forward with confidence.
  • Extra Support When You Need It – advice on managing money, travel costs, wellbeing, and more.
  • Self-Employment Support – Get expert advice on starting your own business, including creating a business plan, setting up, marketing, and managing your finances. You may also be able to access a small start-up grant.

Key points:

Eligibility

  • Must be claiming Universal Credit in the Intensive Work Search regime.
  • Must be unemployed for at least 6 months (39 weeks).
  • Not currently participating in any other government employment scheme (like the Work and Health Programme).
  • Aged 18 years or over (some discretion applies for younger people).
