Gabby's Erasmus+ Programme Review

Gabby's Erasmus+ Programme Review

I had the amazing opportunity of going to Dublin for a digital marketing internship for three months as a part of the Erasmus+ programme and Twin UK. I had heard about the programme before but never got around to actually applying until after I graduated.
From the application process to the departure date, everything was very straightforward and smooth, as Twin offer 24/7 mentoring and help throughout the whole length of the programme.
All the arrangements offered, such as flights, accommodation, travel cards, placement, etc., were very good and convenient. The accommodation itself was great – safe location, gym, basketball court, many shops nearby and most of all – had everything we needed either already in the flat or at the reception. Furthermore, we had travel cards issued weekly, which only made travelling around Dublin easier and even more pleasant.

However, as we were in Dublin during a Tier 5 lockdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic until about a week before it was time to leave, we weren’t allowed to travel too far. It’s also worth mentioning that there are rental bike stands everywhere around Dublin, and they are absolutely affordable, and it’s a fun way to see more of the city that way while you’re also getting some exercise.

The placements gave a feel of what it would be at the actual job – working from 9 to 5 Monday to Friday. It was challenging at times, a learning experience from beginning to end, but extremely gratifying.
Dublin offers everything a student or a young adult might want and need – beach, cycling lanes, green parks and areas for a picnic, all sorts of cuisines downtown, clubs, shops etc. There is always something to see or do there, which comes from someone who visited during a pandemic.

I made many friends during my placement – not only because I shared a flat with other people, but there were also a lot of students in the accommodation, and everyone was extremely nice and friendly.

If you’ve thought about taking part in the programme, but aren’t sure what to expect, I would strongly advise you to give it a chance, as this might be one of the best experiences of your life – it was definitely one of mine. I’ve learned so much about myself during my time in Dublin. This was definitely not just a work experience but also a life experience.
