After spending years as a shift manager, Godwin faced an unexpected turning point in his career. Personal circumstances made it difficult to continue in his previous role, and what followed was a 10-month stretch of unemployment. Despite having a clear goal to return to the security industry, navigating the job market again was not easy.

When Godwin joined the Restart Scheme in October 2024, he was introduced to Restart Advisor Joel Frimpong. From the beginning, Joel worked closely with Godwin to identify the right steps forward. One of the biggest hurdles was updating his CV, which no longer reflected the current expectations of the job market. Together, they built a modern, targeted CV that highlighted Godwin’s experience and strengths in the security sector.

There were also digital requirements involved in renewing Godwin’s SIA accreditation. Joel helped him through the full process, making sure nothing stood in the way of getting job ready. With Joel’s continued guidance and support, Godwin also received help from the National Careers Service and was referred to potential employers, including Corps Security.

Progress was steady. Godwin and Joel met regularly to review applications, set clear goals, and stay focused. Confidence grew with each step.

Eventually, Godwin secured a role in the security sector, exactly where he had set his sights. It was a turning point, not only professionally but personally too. With stability and momentum back on his side, he now looks forward to future growth and is optimistic about what comes next.
